The Google Chrome Dev update added a brand new feature to the already stacked up Google Chrome! With the latest update Google Chrome Dev now supports Applications (aka Apps).
Note: For this you need the Google Chrome Dev version.
They are not enabled by default, so to enable them you must add a command to your Google Chrome shortcut. To do this right-click your existing Google Chrome shortcut either on your desktop or start menu. In the target field append --enable-apps to the end of the address.
Your properties panel should now look similar to this:
After enabling apps restart Google Chrome and open it from your modified shortcut.
Congratulations Apps are now enabled on your Google Chrome!
Now let’s add some apps! You can download apps from here:
- Runescape by Patopop007
- Newgrounds by Patopop007
- Facebook by Lee
- Google Reader by Lee
- Twitter by Lee
- TeamViewer by Lee
- µTorrent Falcon (make sure you're running the desktop version as well - download here)
- Feedsquares by Qikon
- Grooveshark by Qikon
- Pandora by Dave
- Yahoo Mail by pat_boy2008
- Gmail by Google
- Google Calendar by Google
- Google Docs by Google
Because of security reasons you can’t just open the .crx file to install. You must drag the file inside the Google Chrome Window. You will then be prompted with two install dialogues.
Just accept both and there you go! You just installed an App!
Now go crazy and install all the apps you want!
